How to bridge the Gap between Science and Industry

The 12th Probiotics, Prebiotics, New Foods, Nutraceuticals, Botanicals & Phytomedicals for Nutrition & Human and Microbiota Health conference, held in Rome from 16th to 19th September 2023, saw the participation of the European Food Information Council (EUFIC). With its presentation titled “How to Bridge the Gap between Science and Industry,” EUFIC highlighted both the connections between nutrition and microbiota research, and the need to amalgamate scientific discoveries with practical industry applications

Central to the discourse was the notion of translating scientific findings into actionable strategies that can drive meaningful change in the food and nutrition industry. Moreover, EUFIC‘s presentation emphasized the importance of ensuring that scientific discoveries are not confined to academic journals but are seamlessly integrated into the fabric of everyday practices, benefiting both industry and consumers.

Of particular note during the presentation was the commendation of the work done by the Human Microbiome Action project. By emphasizing the contributions of the Human Microbiome Action project to the understanding of the human microbiome, EUFIC underscored the significance of collaborative efforts between scientific research institutions and industry stakeholders.
