1st Annual Meeting – Salerno, Italy
On May 10th, the Human Microbiome Action consortium hold it’s first ever in-person meeting! Thanks to the invitation of our partner EBRIS, we were able to meet in the beautiful city of Salerno on the Amalfi Coast of Italy.
During the meeting, we had the chance to catch up on the long-missed personal exchange and discuss the next steps in the Human Microbiome Action project. The 9 work packages presented their work over the last 12 months as well as their future plans.
In separate workshops, the two pillars of the project came together to work on the two main parts of the project: a standardised approach for microbiome analysis and revealing causal relationships between the microbiome and the health & disease of the human body. The outcomes of these discussions have been very engaging and will drive the project further to reach its goals. Finally, the consortium held a workshop about the aspects of future regulations of the microbiome.
In the coming months, the project will hold several workshops with external experts to receive a broader view of the relevant key-elements.
