APC Microbiome Ireland (APC)

APC Microbiome Ireland SFI research centre is a world leading microbiome research institute. The 300+ team have made several landmark discoveries. Recent research areas include the development of new diagnostics or biomarkers of health, or risk of disease, based on microbial analysis; exploring mechanisms by which these microbes may be favourably mobilised or manipulated to promote health; and ‘mining’ the microbiome for new drugs and functional food ingredients. APC nurtures a strong international network of academic, community and industry relationships and collaborates extensively with these stakeholders to explore how to harness and manipulate microbes for the good of human and planetary health.
